Artist - Kim Barter
I want my work to be a reflection of my continuing curiosity.

This means that I maintain a kind of vigilance in myself that searches for the next step in my painting, printmaking or ceramic sculpture.

My current paintings are about the painted surface that begins to have its own life as I go along… as well as the imagery which references my deepest concerns. Relationship, social well being and the natural world are more than just ideas for me and they surface and resurface in images that are sometimes as fragile as all natural and human experience can be.

I value humour in my work as much as any drama because that seems to me to be a particularly important human characteristic. There is a ‘lightness’ in some of my visual elements that suggest a presence….

I want the viewer to search as well as, experience with me, what can be found in enquiry.
